Your car’s multimedia unit is expected to do more than just play music; it has to be an all round connectivity hub for your vehicle.
Ford SYNC is the latest multimedia system offering connectivity in models of the Ford lineup. Find out how it works.
With personal technology becoming more and more indispensible, having your car available to connect to your smart devices and make your drive more comfortable.
Ford SYNC is the latest system from the Blue Oval brand in its models, and comes with a host of features that are becoming standard across a range of vehicles.
There are two systems in the current Ford lineup: SYNC and SYNC2. The original SYNC system is available with a 4.2” screen and features connectivity such as voice control, Ford Applink which can connect to third party apps such as Spotify and Pandora as well as Emergency Assistance which can use your connected smartphone to call emergency services in the event of a crash.
SYNC2 improves on the original system with an 8” colour touch screen with more advanced features including digital radio, integrated satellite navigation, customisable pre-set text messages that respond if you’re driving and voice controlled climate control settings. Vehicles that have SYNC2 also have a 4.2” screen in the instrument cluster that can let you focus on the road ahead, rather than turn your head towards the middle of the dash.
It is incredibly easy to use the Ford SYNC software. If you have a Bluetooth enabled smart phone, connect it to the SYNC system and it will be able to effortlessly pair up with your phone – and depending on whether you’re using SYNC or SYNC2, the software will download contact details such as a photo that’s assigned to their contact details in your phone, and their name so you can use the voice control to call them.
The SYNC software is built in to the entire Ford Range. The original SYNC is available on the Fiesta, Ecosport, Kuga, Transit and Transit Custom as well as entry-level models of the Ranger and Everest.
SYNC2 is standard on the Focus, Falcon, Falcon Ute, Territory and on mid-grade and higher trims of the Ranger and Everest.
