Brisbane City Council’s ‘left turn on red’ campaign to reduce traffic congestion for commuters has been a wild success at the five intersections implemented so far.
A further ten intersections now give motorists the ability to turn left on red when it’s safe to do so; so we’ve compiled the complete list so you know where you can save time in traffic – without breaking the law and remaining safe at all times.
Since we told you about the first trials at five intersections, you can now turn left on red lights at:
Finsbury St into Newmarket Rd, Newmarket, going towards the Reading Newmarket Shopping Centre;
Edmondstone Rd into Breakfast Creek Rd, Newstead; going up towards Albion Park Raceway and Kingsford-Smith Drive.
Constitution Rd into Lutwyche Rd, Windsor at the Officeworks; heading towards Albion Rd.
Wolverhampton St into Webster Rd, Stafford going up towards Stafford Tavern.
Glenealy St into Bracken Ridge Rd, Bracken Ridge; heading north to Strathpine Rd via Hoyland St or Bracken Ridge Rd.
The McDonalds Access Road into New Cleveland Rd, Tingalpa.
Bell St (on the Kangaroo Motel side only) into Main St heading down towards the Gabba at Kangaroo Point.
Yeronga St into Fairfield Rd, Yeronga going towards Fairfield Gardens Shopping Centre;
Durack St into Ipswich Rd going down the Magic Mile in Moorooka;
Mira St into Poinsettia St, Inala towards Archerfield Rd.
