Motorama Green Month: Helping farmers with Buy a Bale

Motorama aspires to be a values driven organisation, and with a set of values including to care, have a can do attitude, have fun, participate in teamwork, continuing to learn and to be green.

Throughout the year, a value is highlighted and the entire organisation creates various initiatives for that month. During June, a number of green initiatives were undertaken for Green Month, and one initiative from Browns Plains team is to support the ‘Buy a Bale Campaign’.

Buy a Bale supports farmers who have been affected by the devastating droughts throughout Australia by allowing members of the public to donate towards purchasing a bale of hay.

To support this campaign, the Motorama Browns Plains team sold a range of chocolates being sold at each of the Kia, Mitsubishi, Toyota, and Nissan dealerships at Browns Plains, plus the BBQ held each Saturday contributed to their fundraising efforts. Through these donations alone, the hub was able to raise $1000.

This $1000 will contribute to the purchase of over 10 bales that will go to locations that need the resources most. The Motorama Browns Plains team was proud of this result and look forward to working with Buy a Bale in the future.

For 2014, the goal is to raise $4.6million to purchase over 230,000 bales to support over 70% of farmers in QLD and 50% in NSW.
