Holden VF Ute takes on the Green Hell and wins

It isn’t everyday that you have an Australian built car taking on the world famous Nürburgring racetrack in Germany. Holden, however, set out to put the new VF SS V Redline Ute through its paces on the racetrack to prove it is a sports machine not to be messed with.

Behind the wheel of the VF SS V Redline Ute was Holden Dynamics Engineer, Rob Trubiani, who managed to post a time of 8mins 19.47secs. At time that would rival some specifically designed sports cars.

Holden, originally, had a plan to travel to Germany and break the world record for a commercial or utility vehicle. However, there wasn’t a record for them to break. This meant they had an opportunity to set a smashing time. Before setting the World Record time, the Ute was subjected to 35 laps or 720kms of intense lapping and the only items, which needed replacing during that time, were tyres and brakes.

Items that after even a moderate session at a regular track, will need replacing on a track car. The VF SS V Redline Ute which set the World Record packed a 6.0L V8 producing 260kW of power and 517Nm of torque plus a load of performance upgrades including FE3 ultra-sports tuned suspension, Brembo front disc brakes and Forged 19 inch alloy wheels. All of which are standard on all VF SS V Redline Utes.

Not only do you have those performance additions, on the inside you gain access to all of the new technology in the VF range including Colour Head-Up Display, Electric Power Steering with a Competitive mode tune, Forward Collision Alert and Lane Departure Warning.

It’s not often that you get to have the chance to own a World Record setting model, and if you want to check out the VF SS V Redline Ute or any of the VF model line up, make sure you come down to one of the Motorama Holden dealerships at Springwood or Moorooka or check us out online.
